GV II
House. 1848 with C20 alterations. For Diana Salmon. Painted brick with ashlar dressings; fishscale tile roof with brick rear stacks with fluted shafts. Gable facing, front to right. Tudor style. 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-bay range. Bays articulated by pilasters, with Tudor arch to gabled central bay, fishscale fascia and barge-boards to gable. Entrance panelled door and porch with paired columns, entablature and crenellated parapet. Windows have brick sills, hollow-chamfered reveals and label moulds to 4-pane sashes and 1st floor 2/4-pane sashes; 2 large C20 flat-roofed dormers flank gablet. Left return has fishscale barge-boards with finial; ground floor has bay window with 1:2:1-light casements; 1st floor has window with hollow-chamfered reveals, label mould and cross-casement; attic has round-headed light; all windows have decorative glazing. Right return has C20 sun lounge and 1st-floor window as left return. Rear has gabled wing and catslide roof to end; central flat-roofed projection has 2 gablets above. Built as part of the development of the abortive Bishopton Spa for its manager. Included for group value.
