II

House. 1772 as part of large house subsequently destroyed, altered C19 and 1950s. Colourwashed brick, hipped slate roof with brick ridge and end stacks. 2 storeys; 2+3+1-window range: projecting 3-window centre and single-storey loggia to right return. Wide eaves. Round-headed entrance has porch with pairs of slender columns to open pediment; fanlight with radial glazing bars over 6-fielded-panel door. Windows have brick flat arches and 12-pane metal sashes, 9-pane sashes to 1st floor. Right return has gable over 1950s loggia, stucco, end projection with blind elliptical arch and impost band. Rear has 1950s wing with lateral stack; bow-fronted bay window with three 6/9-pane sashes, decorative iron balcony and 1st-floor segmental-headed French window; French window to left has heavy doorcase with architrave and cornice. Loggia has 3 arches with keys; end window with 12-pane sash. Garden front altered in earlier C19 with later central segmental bow window. INTERIOR noted as having winding stick baluster staircase to angle of centre. The original house stood to the front and right of the present one, said to have been a servants' wing.
