TM2531 FRONKS ROAD, Dovercourt
609-1/7/156 War Memorial
II
War memorial. 1919. Limestone with bronze plaques and
ornament. Cruciform main structure of 4 aedicules each with
dentil capped pilasters, plain entablature and gabled cornice,
enclosing series of bronze plaques. Platform is unequal-sided
octagon and angled square plinth/buttresses with bronze
dolphin angled at each corner of main block. Above aedicules,
2 receding step-like blocks. Memorial to Officers and Men of
The Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve,
Auxiliary Reserve and Minesweepers. Plaques list vessels as
well as lives lost.
