GV II

Offices, formerly houses. Early to mid C19. Red Flemish-bond brickwork with bands of darker brick at 2nd-floor level. Roof hidden behind high parapets. 3 storeys with cellars. EXTERIOR: projecting painted stone coved cornice on corbel table with triangular arches and grotesque heads. Second floor has 4 recessed double-hung sash windows, with one vertical glazing bar and triangular painted stone heads with chamfered edges. First floor has 4 similar windows but with painted stone heads with demi-hexagonal arches. Ground floor has 2 similar double-hung sash windows and 2 linked doors, all connected by painted stone band at head level and with demi-hexagonal heads. Pier between doors has central groove and circular motif over. 2 flights of 4 steps to recessed doors which have moulded panels and rectangular fanlights over. Rendered plinth with 2 cast-iron inset bootscrapers. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached cast-iron railing with lozenge and circle designs.
