THEDDINGWORTH MOWSLEY ROAD SP 68 NE (west side) 5/103 21.7.51 Theddingworth Lodge -

- II

Farmhouse. C16 to C17. Timber frame with thatched roof and renewed brick panel infill. 1½ storeied, a very long building of 19 bays boxframe construc- tion. The 12 left hand bays appear to be of slightly later date, and are three panels high with some arch bracing and one intermediate rail inter- rupted by the doorway and two recent windows alongside it. To the right, is a tall horizontally sliding sash window with transom and a two light case- ment window above. Seven bays beyond this appears to be the older section and are of less height on a higher plinth. There is a blocked ground floor door and two eyebrow dormers, two light horizontally sliding sashes. Some old brick panel infill survives. The roof truss visible in the gable wall is of the curved principal type. The difference in build is apparent also in the rear wall where the older section is of two panels high whereas part of the right hand and longer section is of three panels and two storeys with additional eyebrow dormers above. There are various casement windows in the rear wall, and a doorway centrally placed. Some of the windows are tall horizontally sliding sashes with transoms, others are renewed but all have small panes. Early C20 brick axial stacks bowed in shape.
