2/112 Stables to Ockham 14/6/67 Park House

GV II*

Stable block, now converted into flats. Early C18,probably by Nicholas Hawksmoor for the first Lord King. Red brick with grey headers and hipped, plain-tiled roof - partly obscured by parapets. Half-H shape plan with end wings projecting and central, gabled, carriageway projecting in shallow break. Two storeys with attics, now blocked; stacks to left and centre and further stack on centre of left hand side. Plat bands over ground and first floors with stone coping to parapet and central gable. 4 bays either side of tall central carriage archway under gable with cambered head, louvred, opening over elliptical gauged brick arch. Two-light leaded cambered head casement windows to first floor either side of centre, attic windows blocked. Paired round arched double doors either side on ground floor, single "cross" windows to ends of ground floor in re-entrant angles with wings. Two windows on end wings on each floor; lunette windows to inner return fronts. 4 panel doors to left and right of centre under glazed fanlights, further door to left hand re-entrant angle approached up a flight of steps. Further first floor door approached up a flight of wooden stairs in carriage archway.
