2. Mid C16. 2-storeys, timber framed, but altered externally in 1889. Part old tile roof. The house consists of a long range East and West with a cross wing at the East end. Interior has old beamed ceiling to room at North East end, and central ground floor room has good oak ceiling with ¼ round-chamfered beams. Upstairs rooms with exposed structural and roof beams including curved wind-braces. The property seems to be first mentioned in 1272 in the reign of Edward I when Richard Foun held lands in Bedfont. It has been associated with the Sherborn family since 1437. Occupied by soldiers during the Civil Wars.
