II

Summerhouse, formerly to No 91 High Street (q.v.). C.1835, restored 1990. Ground
floor of red brick in stretcher bond, rear wall of Bargate rubblestone with old
red brick dressings; first floor weatherboarded. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys.
Single cell, square on plan, with 2-storey outshut housing stair set back on right
side. Entrance front: wooden posts on brick plinths at sides; 1990 door and side-
lights in architrave with columns and basket arch with flanking lights; cross-
braced decorative panels below sills; on first floor two sashes with glazing bars.
Hipped roof, catslide over outshut; rear-wall chimney. Rear: doorway (heightened)
has old brick quoins and late C20 board door. Returns have wall post at front
straight-braced to mid-rail; right return blind; left return with buttresses
flanking probably inserted 2-light window (now blocked) and two sashes with
bars above.
