2. 1836-8 by George Gilbert Scott, in Neoclassical style, as Workhouse. Lowered and central octagon much altered, 1971. Squared rubble and ashlar, Welsh slated rods. Projecting central and end blocks with further projection, pedimented, to centre. Lower connecting wings, end blocks 2 storeys. 1:5:1:3:1:5:1 sash windows with glazing bars, stone lintels, rusticated stone flat arches to central block. Quoins, floor and eaves bands. Modern glazed porch.
