GODALMING CHURCH STREET SU 9643 NE (west side) 12/57 Nos 23, 23A and 25 (Ideas) GV II
House, now shop. Mid Cl9, altered. Red brick in Flemish bond; roof of C20 concrete tiles and plain tiles. 2 storeys with cellar and attic, 2 bays; parallel 2-storey rear range. Full-width late C19 shop front has: C20 plate- glass windows in old frames; central recessed porch with 3 doors, those to left and right (formerly to two separate shops) of 2 panels, upper panels glazed, with overlights; central door (formerly to first floor flat) of 6 panels (central panels now glazed) with overlight having decorative glazing bars; above porch and windows is corniced fascia with fluted end corbels. First floor: 2 unequally-hung 12-pane sashes under painted wedge lintels with fluted keystones; projecting sills. Stepped dentilled eaves. End stacks. Rear: first floor tile-hung having two 2-light windows, that on right with 16-pane side-sliding sash, that on left with 12-pane casements. Interior: wall between front and rear ranges is of brick-infilled studwork, cellar front wall of rubblestone. included for group value.
