4/20 Paddington Farmhouse 11/11/66 (formerly listed as Paddington Manor FWkmm II*

Hall house. C15, possibly earlier, extended to ends in C16. Timber framed, clad in whitewashed roughcast above, frame exposed below with whitewashed brick infill on wings, plain tiled roof. Hall house with gabled end cross wings forming H- plan, one of 3 and one of 4 bays. Two storeys and attics to centre under gabled 3-light leaded casement dormer. End wings both jettied on first floor on brackets. Inserted stack to left of centre, further stacks to rear. One leaded,3-light window to each end wing on first floor, one lO-light,mullioned and transomed window to ground floor left hand wing; 3-light cambered head window on right hand wing. irregular fenestration to hall range between. Two leaded outer first floor windows, larger, lower, windows to centre on first floor. Three leaded casement windows at different heights on ground floor. Door of five panels, top two glazed, to left of centre under flat hood. Rear - gabled wing to left with pentice across ground floor, Cl7 stack in pentice. Two gabled wings to right with glazing bar sash fenestration. End and side stacks. Cellars below. Interior:- The roof over the hall has two open scissor-braced trusses each decorated with a hollow chamfer and roll moulding. Roof of each section has double tiered side purlins with arched windbraces, open trusses of crossings have arched braced collars. A blocked 4 centre arched doorway survives and the decoration of the timber indicates a house of some quality.
