II SEE ALSO STATION ROAD
House and barn, converted into mill in C19, now restaurant and shop. Original core C17, extended to ends in early C19. Timber frame to front with painted weatherboard cladding, sandstone rubble and brick to ends, whitewashed across rear. Plain tiled roofs extending down in pentice over mill race bridge. Two storeys to cottage/shop on left end with plat band over ground floor and end stack to left. Two 3-light first floor casements and two ground floor casements under cambered heads. Central ribbed door.
One storey and attic to centre with two gabled casement dormers, that to right of centre over of the mill race, lower. Two windows to ground floor. Gabled single storey wing projecting to left of centre with door in left hand side. Gabled range projecting to front right: single storey and attic with one attic casement window and two ground floor windows. Stable style door in porch to right end. C20 extensions set back to right in matching brick and painted weatherboard.
Gomshall Mill is notable for being long and low and having two waterwheels, the present machinery being supplied in 1839 when the mill was converted from an undershot type to an overshot type.
