5/270 Tower Hill Manor 14.6.67 II
House. C16 core now to rear with late C17 refronting to right and early/ mid-C18 refronting to left, all restored in C20. Timber frame to rear on Bargate stone footings exposed to rear left with red brick infill. Galletted sandstone rubble with brick quoins and dressings to front right, red and blue brick to front left. Plain tiled roofs, lower to right and rear. Two storeys and attics to front under five gabled leaded casement dormers, three to left and two to right. Plinth and plat band over ground floor with moulded brick dentilled eaves cornice to right hand bay. End ridge stack to right and two corbelled rear ridge stacks to left, and right of centre on left hand refronting. Five bay range to left with glazing bar sash fenestration under gauged brick heads. Four windows on ground floor with two first floor casements and two double casement doors to ground floor or end bays to right. Fine eight panelled door to right end of left hand refronting in projecting fluted Doric pilaster surround with metopes and triglyphs in frieze. Old hipped roof wing at right angles to rear on plinth with plat band over ground floor. Barn, now store, set back to right and connected to house with roofed corridor.
Interior: framing visible with chalk fireplaces. Square tower to rear contains fine newell staircase built around one long post extending to the full height of the house. Some panelling survives.
