GODALMING HIGH STREET SU 9743 NW (south side) 13/105 No 13 (Coral) (formerly 23.2.1970 listed as two items, ie No 13 (formerly 18.12.47 No 107), and No 1 Cottage, The Square (Part of No 13)) GV II

House, now commercial premises. Late C17, early-mid C18 and late C18-early C19 with later alterations. Brick and Bargate rubblestone with brick dressings; plain tile roofs. Two storeys and attic; 3-bay elevation to High Street with 3 rear ranges. High Street elevation: c.1970 shop front with late C19 brackets flanking corniced fascia; 1st floor of painted C18 brick in Flemish bond has 3 sashes with glazing bars in flush wood architraves with projecting sills; mansard roof, hipped at left end, has flat-roofed dormer with unequally-hung 9-pane sash. Left return, of Bargate stone with galleting and red brick dressings: front range has 1st-floor sash with glazing bars in flush wood architrave. On left, 2-bay late C17 range has plinth, central and corner pilaster strips, plat bands and Dutch gable; two C20 3-light windows to each floor, on ground floor with shouldered relieving arches, on 1st floor with header-brick arches and the left window blocked; in gable a 2-light casement with shouldered relieving arch. Two further bays to left, have external stack on left and ridge stack at left end. To left again a further C18 range of brick in English bond with blue headers under hipped roof with stack in front hip. Interior: on ground floor rear range has large-scantling chamfered beams with lambs tongue stops and in left wall an old window with ovolo-moulded surround and mullions which are diamond in section. 1st floor not inspected.
