6/162 Gateway and Railings 9/3/60 to South of the Garden at Baynards Park
GV II
Gateway and Railings. Circa 1840. Brown and blue brick with wrought iron railings enclosing formal garden to south. Centre portion crested, flanked by red brick piers with stone cornices and ball caps. Lower crested sections flank piers to smaller end piers of similar design. Beyond extend uncrested ranges leading to pedestrian archways set between still smaller piers and flanking these are lower sections of railings and piers. Opposite the centre and beyond the railing to the south is a long avenue, formerly of oak trees, which leads to a lodge on the Sussex boundary.
