FOTHERINGHAY MAIN STREET TL0593 (North side) 14/70 The Thatched House 25/05/67 (Formerly listed as Cottage opposite No.7) GV II

Shown as The Thatched Cottage on the Ordnance Survey map. House. Late C18 altered mid C19. Squared coursed limestone with thatch roof. Originally 2-unit plan. Single storey with attic. Irregular 6-window range of C20 leaded casements under flat stone arches. 4 eyebrow dormers, to attic above, have similar casements. Brick stacks at ridge and end. Evidence of 2 blocked door openings, now windows, to left and right of centre. Rear elevation has central gable and some C19 style casement windows under wood lintels. Projecting wing to far right is similar with C20 porch at intersection with main house. Interior has remains of open fireplace. Originally house and barn probahly converted into 2 dwellings mid C19.
