ARMITAGE WITH HANDSACRE C.P.,
RIDWARE ROAD,
High Bridge (that part in Armitage with Handsacre C.P.)
II*
Road bridge. 1830. Cast-iron bridge made by the Coalbrookdale Works,
with rusticated ashlar abutments. Single segmental arch over the
River Trent with cross patterned spandrels and a span of 140 feet.
The abutments have a dentilled cornice and sweep forward to terminate
in semi-octagonal piers with massive caps. On each side of the bridge,
behind the abutments, is a flight of steps. The original iron parapet
has been removed. The other part of High Bridge is Listed under Mavesyn
Ridware C.P. B.o.E. p. 204.
