Mile post. Mid C19. Cast iron painted white with letters and designs in relief on black. Triangular plan. To upper face:- LONDON 220; to west face:- EASINGWOLD with a design of cow with calf below; to east face:- THIRSK with a design below of a bird with outstretched wings and a man holding a mug and staff. Manufactured locally at Norby foundry. Dr P Wyon and W Fogitt, Thirsk, Past and Present, 1980, p6.
