GREAT HARROWDEN THE SLIPS SP8870 (North side) 14/144 Gates, gatepiers, railings, 28/05/54 walls and attached summerhouse extending to approx. 300m. N, S and E of Harrowden Hall (Formerly listed as Harrowden Hall including garden walls, gatepiers and gates)
GV II
Gates, gatepiers and attached walls. Early C18. 5 pairs of limestone ashlar panelled gatepiers. 2 piers surmounted by urns, all with pairs of wrought-iron side railings, gates and overthrows. All linked by brick walls having 2 other C19 iron gates and C19 and C20 restorations. Wall immediately to north of Harrowden Hall has summer house attached having one sash, one casement and one oval window all with moulded stone architraves. Walls are attached to garden front of Harrowden Hall and together with the garden front of Harrowden Hall (q.v.) they form 4 sides of a walled garden to east of Harrowden Hall and outer walls to north, south and west form sides of the adjacent park. They also form part of formal layout with statues approx. 30 metres north-east and south-east (q.v.) and approx. 60 metres south-east (q.v.), statue plinth approx. 60 metres north-east (q.v.) and gates, gatepiers and railings approx. 300 metres east of Harrowden Hall (q.v.) and steps approx. 10 metres east of Harrowden Hall (q.v.). (The gardens and park are included in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade II*).
