Details
POLEBROOK CHURCH HOW TL0687 (West side) 19/103 Greyston House GV II
House. Late C17 with early C19 obliterated datestone. Squared coursed limestone with pantile roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys with attic. 3-window range at ground floor and 2-window range at first floor. Casement windows under wood lintels. Window to ground floor far left is a C19 tripartite sash under a renewed wood lintel. Central C20 door under wood lintel, has early C20 porch 2 buttressess to right are probably C20. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and ashlar ridge and end stacks, some with moulded cornices. Datestone above porch, now partially obliterated, has initials "T.S." referring to Thomas Slatcher a local builder. Interior has ovolo-moulded and stopped spine beams. Room to right of entrance has a restored open fireplace. Central room has open fireplace with bressumer. Room to left of entrance have C17 fireplaces with 4-centred arch heads. First floor room, above, said to have similar fireplace. Various late C19 alterations may incorporate artifacts from elsewhere.
