Details

NORTHALLERTON YAFFORTH ROAD SE 3694-3794 (north side) 6/63 The Mount II House, now disused nursing home. Late C18-early C19 with later additions and alterations. Brown brick in Flemish bond, mostly Welsh slate roofs, replacing Westmorland slate. 2 and 3 storeys, 1:2:5:2:1 bays. Central block: of 3 storeys and slightly projecting; central 6-panel door below overlight in architrave, with plain frieze and cornice; firemark over doorway; sill bands; windows have flat arches; ground floor windows are C20 casements and have been lengthened downwards below the sill band; first floor windows sashes, central window blocked; smaller sash windows on second floor; moulded gutter; hipped roof. Paired flanking bays have small flat arches to matching fenestration; French window on ground floor of right bay; roofs hipped at outer ends. End bays slightly recessed, with lean- to roofs and mainly blocked openings. C20 additions to left and rear not of special interest. Right return: c1900 fenestration.
