BETCHWORTH C.P. WONHAM LANE TQ 24NW 6/43 More Place 11/11/66 GV II
House. C15 core, enlarged in C17, further enlarged and remodelled in late C19. Timber framed, in close stud pattern to right with render infilling, colourwashed brick cladding to left, brick mathematical tiles on rear. Horsham slab roofs. Reigate stone stack to right, further stacks to front and rear. Two storeys and attic in gable to right of centre with 3-light, leaded attic casement window, leaded fenestration with two windows to first floor left, and two, two-light windows on ground floor. Two first floor windows to right three windows below all with wooden labels over. Stone ogee niche in stack to right of bust of a Bishop, square quatrefoil containing the tracery panel plaque over. Projecting gabled two storey porch to left with hand across gable of diamond panel and grotesque decorations. One 2-light, leaded first floor window, 4-centred arched porch entrance below with wooden Doric pilasters flanking. Door of six fielded panels. Hipped slate roofed single storey range to left. Right hand return front:- close-stud frame on gable to left with jettied first floor below. Arched bracing and timbers of substantial scantling with dragon beam to left corner. One attic window, one 3-light ground floor window and square mullioned and transomed window under pentice hood. Recessed range to centre with first floor oriel window on carved scrolled brackets, gabled dormer over. Timber framed wing to right, jettied on left hand return front first floor, jettied gable to end with one leaded casement on each floor. Rear - triple diagonal stacks to left, central gable with attic window and octagonal turret room with arched tracery to leaded windows. Y-shaped windows to first floor, door under pediment in angle.
