2/26 date piers to west and garden wall to south, west and north of The Priory
GV II
Gate piers and garden wall. C19 with incorporation of sections of medieval wall. Limestone ashlar piers, brick and dressed gritstone walls. Cruciform piers approximately 4 metres in height. Moulded bases and cornices surmounted by pineapple finials. Wall approximately 100 metres in length to south, 75 metres to west and 20 metres to north. Both north and south sections include medieval stone, that to south probably reused, but that to north possibly part of an original medieval wall of the Benedictine nunnery of Nun Monkton. Approximately 3 metres in height with C20 concrete coping.
