OLD STRATFORD TOWCESTER ROAD SP74SE (East side) 7/86 No.4 including garden area 01/03/75 railings in front
GV II
House. Early/mid C18, raised early C19. Coursed squared limestone, slate roof, brick end stacks. 3 storeys and basement; 2-window range. Two-unit central-staircase plan. Central part-glazed panelled door with overlight and gabled hood on brackets. 16-pane sash windows to ground and 1st floors with flat-arched heads. 6-pane sashes to 2nd floor with wood lintels. Small raised garden area in front has C19 railings with spear finials. Interior: timber partitions dividing hall from rooms either side have fielded and raised panels. Basement is original ground floor and has stop-chamfered spine bean and open fireplace with chamfered bressumer. Central door to outside wall of basement is flanked by blocked windows with wood lintels and is probably original front door and has 4 raised panels, H.L, hinges, pegged wood surround and wood lintel. Door now leads into cellar under raised garden area brick-arched half-tunnel vault. Also known as Wharf House.
