LITTLE BOOKHAM LITTLE BOOKHAM STREET TQ/15/NW (west side) 2/187 Maddox Farmhouse GV II

Farmhouse, now house. Probably earlier C18, enlarged and altered. Brick, part with scored render and all painted cream; red tile roof, brick chimney. Linear single-depth plan on east-west axis with added wing at left end and various additions to the rear. Two storeys with four 1st-floor windows in the main range and 2 in the wing; segmental-headed doorway offset left of centre, with board door and modern open porch with pitched roof; a large inserted 4-light casement to the left, 2 segmental-headed 3-light casements to the right and a tall early C20 canted bay window at the right-hand end, with a glazed side door; one 2- light and three 3-light casements at 1st floor. Roof half-hipped at the right-hand end, with corniced axial chimney on the ridge between the 3rd and 4th windows. The wing at the left end is flush, has one small casement at ground floor and 2 above, and a half-hipped roof. Rear has various one- and 2-storey additions (none of special interest). Interior: remains of a timber-framed rear wall; some chamfered joists with run-out stops; otherwise altered. Included for group value with other buildings on this site, forming the north end of the former farmyard.
