Details

SE20NW GUNTHWAITE AND INGBIRCHWORTH GUNTHWAITE LANE (west side), Gunthwaite 2/36 Farmbuildings adjoining and to south of Gunthwaite Hall barn GV II Farmbuilding. Dated 1701. For Godfrey Bosvile (d.1714). Coursed squared rubble, stone slate roof. Two part-blocked cart entries with very shallow segmental heads and shared central jamb, the right arch dated. Centrally-placed above is a former 2-light double-chamfered window (mullion removed). To the left are two Tudor-arched entrances (one part blocked). To the right is a similar part-blocked entrance. The right end of the range is gabled and the apex has a 2-light double-chamfered window, between 2 drip-moulds, with dovecote openings above and to each side. Chamfered gable copings on moulded kneelers with finials. Rear: 3 high-level, 2-light, double-chamfered windows (one enlarged). Right return gable has later single-storey lean-to addition, one 3-light double-chamfered window to 1st floor with hoodmould, and one 2-light double-chamfered window to gable apex with dovecote as front. Interior: later sawn softwood king-post trusses.
