SK69SE BAWTRY SWAN STREET (south side) 10/37 No 2 and 4 (formerly 5th June 1968 listed as part of No 6, No 8, No 10 Swan Street). GV II Houses now shops. c1800, altered. Red brick; No 4 in English bond, No 2 in Flemish bond; C20 cement-tile roof. 2 storeys and attics, 1:5 windows to 1st floor; No 4 on left being a single-bay infill adjoining No 6, Swan Street (q.v). No 2: part-glazed door and overlight in wooden doorcase flanked by inserted 3-light shop windows; window in position of former doorway on right retains a 3-pane overlight and flat brick arch. 1st floor: brick band; C20 casements with glazing bars beneath flat brick arches to bays 1, 3 and 5 the outer windows widened; bay 2 and 4 have blind windows with flat brick arches. No 4: steps to part-glazed, panelled door on right of a shop window having bowed casement with glazing bars. lst floor: band beneath C20 casement with glazing bars. Roof has a casement in dormer window over No 4 and 2 roof lights over No 2; rebuilt brick end stack on left. Included for group value.
