SE4805 HICKLETON BARNSLEY ROAD (south side) 12/62 Cross with stepped base at junction with Hickleton Road II Memorial cross with stepped base. 1910 plinth and cross for CharlesLindley Wood, Viscount Halifax; earlier steps possibly of medieval origin. Limestone., Octagonal base with 5 steps, 2-stage plinth to cross. Plinth inscribed:
"To Edward vii King of England in memory of the past / Grant him o Lord eternal rest and let light perpetual shine upon him / Erected by Charles Lindley: viscount Halifax: his subject and servant / May 6th 1910".
Octagonal shaft has crocketed capital and stylised cross with shield on one face and figure of Christ on other.
