12/72 East lodge and entrance gateway
GV II Lodge and entrance gateway. c1910. For the Hickleton Hall estate. Rock-faced and ashlar limestone, Welsh slate roof. Square lodge with entrance archway set back on right. In the style of Lutyens. Lodge: single-storey with attic, 2 x 1 bays. Chamfered ashlar plinth band, alternately projecting quoins. Sashes with glazing bars in quoined surrounds with soffit-moulded sills and tripartite keystones. Deep eaves cornice. Hipped roof with 2 roof dormers; quoined and corniced ridge stack. Right return has 3-light window with 8-pane sashes, canted roof-dormer. Entrance archway: rock-faced quoins. Impost band to round arch with tripartite keystone having console-shaped central stone. String course rises over arch as hood. Open pediment with ledges to pigeon holes in tympanum. Rear in same style.
