4/76 Rocher Farmhouse including adjoining barn 20/12/74 II

Farmhouse with attached barn now partly converted to domestic use. Dated BAS 1667 on door lintel, barn later. Coursed squared sandstone, gritstone quoins, stone slate roof House to right : former baffle-entry plan, 2 storeys, 3 windows to first floor. Doorway to left, now part-blocked with casement window fitted, has quoined reveals and deep lintel with date in lozenge-shaped panel, hoodmould. Another doorway inserted near centre has ashlar surround flanked by, to right, a 4-light double-chamfered mullion window with decorative square stops to hoodmould and, to left, a similar 4-light window with hoodmould truncated by tine inserted door surround. 2 double-chamfered 3-light windows to first floor, to far left a C20 casement inserted above infilled doorway. Moulded kneelers, chamfered gable copings. Renewed stone stacks to each end of house. Barn to left : central round-arched cart entrance infilled and door inserted. To right a C20 wood casement to each floor. To left an old boarded door with a casement window to itsright. Lean-to extensions to left of barn and right return of house not of special interest.
