TOWN OF DONCASTER PRINCE'S STREET SE 5703 SE (east side)

7/75 No 43 (formerly 12.6.50 listed as part of 26 Hallgate) GV ll

House, now shop and offices. c1795 with later alterations. Stucco with painted stone dressings and slate roof. Three storeys and three bays. Plinth. Ground floor has C20 shop front to left and four stone steps up to original doorcase to right. Steps have original wreathed iron railing to left side. 6 raised and fielded panelled door below leaded overlight in fluted pilastered doorcase with plain frieze and moulded pediment. First floor sill band. 12 pane sash over the door to right and two plate glass sashes to left, all below moulded timber cornices, that to right supported on fluted consoles. Above two 12 pane sashes to left and one fixed 12 pane window to right, all in simple timber architraves with projecting sills. Rendered end stack. Interior has open well cantilevered stone staircase with stick balusters, ramped and wreathed mahogany handrail and profiled cheekpieces. Prince's Street was laid out in 1795.
