PEWSEY - SU 16 SE 6/61 West Wick Farmhouse 4.6.52 II

Large farmhouse. Mid C18. Brick with tiled roof. Two storeys and attic. Main block extended to rear, and 2 storey wing with long rear range, mostly C20. Facade symmetrical, of 5 bays, centre bay broken forward and with brick pediment with oval light. Door now a window, within Roman Doric doorcase with open pediment. Twelve paned sash windows with gauged brick lintels. Brick cornice and parapet concealing 2 flat roofed dormers. Gable stacks. Extension with parallel ridge. Sun insurance marks No.302966 and 606697. Interior part remodelled c1945. Original dog-leg stair through 3 storeys, with turned balusters and moulded handrail. Drawing room occupying left 3 bays of front has imposing stone fireplace by Sir John Soane, said to come from the Bank of England. Also two columns in antis from Wimpole Street. Dentilled cornice. Six panelled doors.
