4/184 Upper Townend Farm house (formerly listed as Townend Cottage (upper) 18/9/75 GV II

Farmhouse. Plaque dated IMA/1745,with later addition. Rough ashlar gritstone, stone slate roof, Welsh slate to rear. 2-room central-staircase plan with added bay to right and outshut to rear. 2 storeys, 3 windows to first floor. Original part of house : projecting quoins. C20 door to right of centre in bonded ashlar surround cut to form simple architrave. Flanking square-faced surrounds to C20 casements. First; floor band beneath 2 similar windows. Architrave to dated plaque above door. Coved eaves course returns to left. Moulded kneelers, square-cut gable copings. Ashlar end stacks with band and cornice, similar ridge stack to right. Added bay to right : flush quoins. Door in bonded surround to left, casement to right. Blocked quoined surround to first floor doorway, now window. Attached buildings to right not of special interest.
