NUNEHAM COURTENAY A423 SU5599 (West side) 9/71 The Old School House 18/07/63 (Formerly listed as School House)
GV II
School house, now house. Mid C18. Brick in Flemish bond; old plain-tile roofs with rebuilt brick stacks. 2-unit plan with end outshuts. 2 storeys plus attic. Symmetrical 3-window front, with storey band and dentil eaves course, has 2-light casements at first floor, and a central 4-panel door with a rectangular overlight and a flat canopy on brackets. The flanking windows have been altered to 3-light casements. End outshuts are slightly recessed and have segmental-arched windows, blind to right. Hipped main roof with 2 gabled roof dormers and 2 tall stacks rising from the rear. Interior not inspected. Part of the estate village built c.1760 for the 1st Earl Harcourt. (H.
