Briggs Cottage and College Cottage

II

Two cottages. Probably late C17, extended C20. Limestone rubble with wooden
lintels; thatch roof with rubble and brick gable stacks. Single-unit plans. Two
storeys and one storey plus attic. College Cottage to right is taller and has a
doorway plus 2-light casements. Briggs Cottage retains an old plank door with a
heavy frame and has a 2-light wood-mullioned window plus a dormer. Left gable
wall has a large rubble chimney projection. INTERIOR: College Cottage has an
open fireplace and bread oven. Briggs Cottage not inspected. Large C20 extension
to rear of Briggs Cottage is not of special architectural interest.
