GV II
House. Late C17. Coursed squared marlstone; Stonesfield-slate roof with
limestone-ashlar stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys plus attic; 2-window front has
3-light stone-mullioned windows at each floor with labels and lattice glazing.
To extreme left is a small chamfered opening with label in line with the stack.
Right gable wall has mullioned windows at ground floor and in gable and it
returns to a short hipped-roofed rear wing with further mullioned windows. 2
entrances at rear. Stacks to left gable and ridge of rear wing are C19 and have
plinths and moulded caps. Interior not inspected but noted as containing an
inscription in the attic "John Hiorn that is my name and with my hands I made
this same. This house builded by John Stow and Joan his wife and here they lived
all their life. Builded in the year of our Lord God 1680 RSIHTEA".
