Details
DORCHESTER BRIDGE END SU5793 (West side) 8/36 No. 24 (Bridge End Close) 18/07/63 (Formerly listed as Rose Cottage, with stable)
GV II
Substantial house. 1797 and 1897 on datestones. Red brick with some flared headers; old plain-tile roof with brick gable stack. Central-stair plan, extended. Late-Georgian style. 2 storeys plus attics. Symmetrical 3-window front, of flared brick in header bond with red-brick dressings and gauged flat arches, has a central 6-panel door with an outer arch containing the datestone in the tympanum; outer sashes, at ground and first floors, are 5-panes wide and there is a 3-pane sash above the door. Brick dentil eaves course is carried round to the red brick gable walls which have pairs of narrow sashes at each floor. Mansard roof has 3 roof dormers and a stack to left. Hipped-roofed parallel range to rear is later. Interior not inspected.
