Details
TQ 3426 LINDFIELD HIGH STREET (east side) 6/236 Lindfield House 10.9.51 GV II* House. Early C18. Red brick with stone cornice and doorcase and slate roof having end chimney stacks. 2 parallel ranges with L-shaped service wing to north west; 2 storeys, 5 windows. 12 pane sashes with thick glazing bars and rubbed brick arches. Deep panelled parapet, moulded stone coping, brick plat band and central doorcase with broken pediment containing bust of Shakespeare, rusticated pilasters and 8 panelled door, the top 2 panels glazed. Interior has central staircase, straight flight with turned balusters and column shaped newel post and dado panelling. Study has early C18 panelling, wide modillion cornice and 6 panelled door set in doorcase with curved architraves. Similar panelled Dining Room.
