Details

NOKE SP51SW 6/l18 Orchard Cottage 23/09/86 GV II Small house. Possibly late medieval, re-modelled late C17/early C18. Limestone rubble with wooden lintels, concealing a cruck structure; thatch roof with rubble and brick gable stacks. 2-unit plan. One storey plus attic. 2-window front has a central doorway with a C20 rubble porch between 3-light casements, and has 2 rubble dormers containing 2-light casements; all windows have leaded glazing. Left stack has a rubble base. Interior not inspected but noted as containing crucks. (N.W. Alcock, Cruck Construction, 1981, p141)
