10/9 Connaught House 7.5.54 - II
House, formerly inn (known as the Chequers Inn until c.1875). Early C19, with alterations of later C19. 2 storeys and attics, 5 windows. Gault brick with string at 1st floor, moulded modillioned eaves cornice and parapet gables with tumbled-in brickwork. Pantiled gambrel roof with flat-headed sash window dormers; axial and gable chimneys of gault brick. Sash windows with flat arches of gauged brick and late C19 large-pane sashes. C19 4-panelled entrance door; partly glazed with oblong fanlight; Greek Ionic portico with heavy moulded cornice on 2 columns.
