2. Now divided into flats. Late C18 or early C19. 2 storeys. Ashlar on squared rubble base. Plain string at 1st floor level, moulded string over 1st floor windows. Plain frieze and moulded coved coping over parapet. Old tile roof. 2 brick chimneys. 5 windows on 1st floor, sashes, centre 3 Panes wide, remainder 4 panes. Four 4-paned windows on ground floor and central 6-panel door in plain arched recess with raised architrave and keystone, doorhead ornamented with key pattern, and delicate fanlight of circular pattern and device of letters S and W and shield. The initials S. W. apparently represent the builder of the front, Samuel White. An ancestor of the same name, or possibly the same man when much younger, probably built No 3 Church Street. Gabled 2 storey extension to rear with tile hung 1st floor. The back of Obelisk House is irregular and gabled. To left hand of the street front is a 2 storey rubble extension, probably early C19, with 2 small windows and door on ground floor, and a modern and faced turretted clock at roof level. Erected 1913. 2 bronze plaques on house commemorating the clock to John Hall famous Tariff Reformer in West of England 1830-1909.
