Details

BRATTON MELBOURNE STREET ST 9152 (north side) 11/37 Stable at Bratton House 11.9.68 GV II Stable. Mid C18, C19 additions. Flemish bond brick with chamfered stone quoins, concrete tiled roof with coped verge to left and hip to right. L-plan. Single storey, 5-bay C18 range. Central double panelled doors in beaded stone architrave, two blocked windows to left, one to right and 4-panelled door with transom light. String course. Two-brick plat band with five oculi in stone surrounds over, the left one with clock face and the central larger. Moulded stone eaves cornice. C19 carriage house attached to right with two segmental headed openings with keystones, left one has C20 garage door, the right with inserted 3-light casement, planked door to right, two 3-light casements to first floor, stepped brick eaves course. Former late C19 chapel at right angles to right, now garage with C20 garage doors and plate glass sashes in single- storey extension to right, west gable end has cross window. Interior of stable retains timber stalls and loose boxes, brick floor. Former chapel has arch-braced C19 roof.
