DORCHESTER HIGH STREET SU5794 (East side) 5/71 No.76 (Tudor Cottage) 18/07/63 (Formerly listed as Tudor Cottage)
GV II
House. Late medieval and C16/C17, extended C20. Timber framing with wattle and daub and brick infill, plus some brick and rubble; thatch roof with brick stacks. 4-unit plan. Single-storey with attic to one bay. Irregular front has 2 shuttered casements, in brick section to right of doorway, a very small leaded casement, immediately to left, and a rectangular bay window further to left, below the 3-light attic window. Extension to extreme left has applied timbering. Roof is hipped to right and has stacks to left gable and to right of centre. Rear has irregular framing, some old casements and two C20 bay windows. Interior: open fireplace with flanking winder stair; one pair of cruck blades of heavy scantling. Part of the house is likely to have been an open hall.
