GV II
Rectory, now house. C17, remodelled c.1670 by James Stopes and in early C18 for his son James Stopes. Flemish bond red brick with purple brick diaper patterns to side walls; old tile roof; brick stacks. T-plan with rear right range. Early Georgian style. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. Segmental moulded hood over 6-panelled door in moulded architrave. Sashes to all windows with ground-floor gauged brick flat arches and flat brick arches above. Raised storey band: moulded cornice. 3 hipped dormers with C20 lights. Gabled roof; rear lateral and ridge stacks. Storey bands continued around 2-window range with leaded casements. C17 wing of three-window range to rear right is rendered to left and has square timber framing over C18 brick wall to right; gauged brick flat arch over C20 window, hipped dormer and gabled old tile roof with ridge stack. Interior: front range has early C18 doors in moulded architraves, timber-framed partitions to central passage: early C18 cornice and fireplace to left, mid C19 plaster ceiling to right: late C17 open-well stairs to rear right has turned balusters on closed string, ball-finial newel posts, pendentives and pilasters to dado. C17 two-unit lobby-entry range to rear has original chamfered doorways adjoining stack, chamfered and stopped beams, and barley-malting room with trap doors to rear.
