BURBAGE HIGH STREET SU 26 SW (east side) 2/31 No 135 (Conifer Cottage) 14.5.86 II

Two cottages, now one house. Late C16, altered early C17 and extended in C18. Timber framed with red brick noggings, thatched roof. Addition line rendered. Single storey and attic, 4 bays, with central stack. Original building at north end, 2 bays with stack bay added. Addition also of 2 bays, with central stair hall. Framing 2 panels high on brick sill and heavy curved corner braces, but second bay altered to 3 panels high without braces. Central entrance to extension within gabled open porch. Original building has three C19 timber casement windows under segmental heads. Addition has two 2-light timber casements with segmental heads. One leaded window opposite stack. Large external stack to left gable. Roof half hipped. Interior: Original structure has queen post trusses. Elaborate chamfer stops to spine beams.
