Details
ELMSETT CHURCH ROAD 1. 5377 Church of St Peter TM 04 NE 39/327 235.1.58 I 2. A small C13, C14 and C15 church without aisles. The west tower has C13 lancet windows, diagonal buttresses and a castellated parapet. The nave and chancel are faced in cement and the south of the nave has small blocked Norman windows (External). The east window is C14 and there are C14 and C15 windows on the north and south. The south porch has a "cruck", arched entrance way. The interior features include a Norman square font of Purbeck marble, a C17 octagonal panelled and carved pulpit and a later C17 communion rail (3 sided). There is a monument to Edward Sherland (d 1609) with a kneeling alabaster effigy (coloured).
