Dwellings. Formerly almshouses,1878; the central block of a group of 3 detached ranges forming an open court. In the Queen Anne Revival style; 2 storeys and attics, 5 windows. Red brick, the central 3 bays set slightly forward; 4 flat pilasters beneath a dentil cornice and pediment within which are 3 trinagular panels of elaborately carved terracotta. Plaintiled roof with flat lead roofed casement dormers; gable chimneys. A central clock turret with clocks on 4 square wooden framed faces, and lead cupola with weathervane. Small-pane sash windows with segmental pediments of carved brick at 1st floor level and flat arches at ground floor, all windows having carved brick aprons. A flat roofed 1-storey bay flanking the entrance. Gabled porch of red brick with elliptical arch and pediment with a cartouche and foliage of carved brick. The mid C20 extensions at either end are not of special interest.
