House. Early C18 block to the right, and mid C19 block to the left. Limestone rubble, stepped stone copings and brick stacks to gable ends, and to the right-of-centre of the C18 block, which has a slate roof and is 2-unit in plan. The C19 block to the left has a thatched roof and is double-depth plan. The latter is 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. It has a projecting Tuscan Ham Hill stone porch over a wide door with 3 long panels to the top and 3 short ones to the base; above this is a 3-light stone mullioned casement window. To the sides on the ground floor are canted bays with 2/2-pane sash windows; wide pointed-arch stone mullioned windows above, 3-lights, with Gothic-style intersecting glazing bars to the top; these project through the eaves to form half-dormers with fretted bargeboards and pendants. The early C18 block to the right has a wide right-of-centre planked door with inserted window and 3-light stone mullioned casement windows to the right and taller 4-light ones to the left, all with plate glass. The mullions are square-section with beaded edges. The rear of the C19 block has small 3-light casements under wooden lintels, but a large sash stair window to the centre, suggesting the possibility that this block was a remodelling of an older building. INTERIOR: the C18 block has a flagstone floor and against the far right wall is a large stone flat-arched fire-surround with a keystone; the planked doors have original latches. The C19 block has a wide hall with open-well staircase, panelled reveals to the doorcase of the left-hand room, and a reeded cast-iron hob-grate in a slate surround. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: 4 units of outbuildings of similar materials, probably C19, are attached to the right, the 2 nearest the house are heated.
