Row of 3 cottages with attached garden walls. c1800, altered C20. Uncoursed sandstone rubble, Nos 3 & 4 now rendered and all painted white. Composition tile roof. Rectangular double-depth plan, each cottage single-fronted. 2 storeys at the front, 3 at the rear, each cottage of one bay. No.3 has the doorway to the right, now covered by a modern glazed porch, Nos 4 & 5 have doorways to the left. All have one vertical-rectangular window on each floor, that at ground floor of No.5 enlarged and all with altered glazing, mostly top-hung casements. Slender iron gutter brackets. 2 ridge chimney stacks with water-tabling, that to the right shared between Nos 3 & 4. Rear is 3-storeyed, each cottage having a back door and one small window on each floor (that at 2nd floor of No.5 blocked). SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: garden walls attached to the front, enclosing rectangular gardens, of large coursed sandstone rubble painted white, approx 1m high, with ridged coping. Included for group value.
