Terraced houses. Dated on a plaque on no 33 lettered 'CANONBURY TERRACE 1824'; no 31 rebuilt mid-C20. Developed by Richard Laycock. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof obscured by parapet. Three storeys, two windows each. Ground floor stuccoed with banded rustication. Segmental-arched entrance with fluted quarter-columns carrying deep cornice, panelled doors to all except no 33 which has C18 or early C19 door inserted; some original glazing to fanlights. Ground-floor windows to nos 27 and 29 have cambered arches and original sashes, those to nos 33-37 round arches, glazing bars to nos 33 and 37 radiating with margin lights, those to no 35 intersecting. First-floor windows have piano nobile proportions, flat-arched with stuccoed heads to nos 27 and 29 and gauged brick heads to nos 33-37. Balconies with iron railings to all first-floor windows, those to nos 33-7 having brackets. Second-floor windows flat-arched with stuccoed heads to nos 27 and 29, gauged brick heads to no 33-37; original sashes to nos 27, 29 and 35. Stucco band and parapet to nos 27-9, cornice and blocking course to nos 33-37. No 31 has been rebuilt in English bond brickwork with only doorcase, panelled door, overlight and proportions of ground and second-floor windows remaining of orignal building.
